As well as being delicious, fish is great for your health. It has been described as the ‘ultimate anti-ageing food’. A naturally occurring ingredient, Omega-3 fatty acid, provides valuable protection against heart and blood disorders. Fish has also been shown to benefit conditions such as diabetes, certain cancers, obesity and rheumatoid arthritis. It can also alleviate depression.
Petuna’s Ocean Trout swims ahead in the goodness stakes. It is one of the highest-nutrient fish, providing an excellent source of quality protein, important vitamins and minerals as well as being rich in Omega-6, another essential fatty acid.
Quick facts:
Omega-3s are a type of polyunsaturated fat and are essential nutrients that play many critical roles in our bodies. And, like minerals and most vitamins, they cannot be made by our bodies.
It is important to include good quantities of fish in our diets, with up to 2–3 servings a week. Studies have shown that, on average, we lack sufficient amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids/fats.
Seafood is a rich source of many important minerals, including iodine, zinc, potassium and phosphorus. It is also rich in many vitamins, especially the B group.
