After 3 decades as an award-winning chef and restaurateur, Peter has now diversified his career to encompass the roles of TV presenter, author, industry speaker and restaurant consultant. Peter is well known for his time at Sydney’s iconic Flying Fish Restaurant & Bar which he opened in 2004, and successfully led the kitchen team as Executive Chef for 8 years.

His love of travel and previous work in the Pacific led to the opening of 2 restaurants on Denerau Island, Fiji. Flying Fish at Sheraton Fiji Resort, opened on 2008 in partnership with Starwood Hotel group. After the success of this venture, Steakhouse by Peter Kuruvita opened in February 2013, at neighboring resort The Westin, Denarau Island. Both restaurants feature a menu designed by Peter focusing on fresh, quality produce, attentive service, fine wines and stunning beach side locations. Peter’s latest restaurant partnership, with Sheraton Noosa Resort, has seen Noosa Beach House open under his direction in May 2013.

Peter’s first cookbook “Serendip – My Sri Lankan Kitchen” takes food lovers on a journey through the kitchen experiences of his child hood with traditional recipes and stunning photography. Peter has presented 2 TV series produced by The Precinct Studios for SBS Television. “My Sri Lanka with Peter Kuruvita” and “Island Feast with Peter Kuruvita” combine beautiful scenery with sensational local cuisine through the islands of Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Vanuatu, Philippines and Cook Islands. Both series are currently airing on many networks worldwide and have been nominated for various awards. These popular TV series inspired his next cookbook “My Feast with Peter Kuruvita” and takes food lovers on a culinary and cultural journey through the islands communities of Asia and the South Pacific.

Peter continues to host culinary tours of Sri Lanka for World Expeditions, whilst developing his product and spice range and preparing to take on another restaurant operation.
